Thank you Minnesota Lynx for kicking the door down and winning this state’s first professional sports championship since the 1991 Minnesota Twins!
I wrote here before that this state has been Loserville lately, and thanks to your hard work and pure drive you did what this state of sports needed most; win the title and finish the job! Read more…

From the fury of losing, oh Minnesota Lynx please rescue us.
I will admit that I hate being a fan mired in the culture of losing in Minnesota. It absolutely stinks. Losing is a disease. The Vikings are 0-2 on the season, the Twins just lost their 11th game in a row, The Timberwolves are the Timberwolves in lockout, and the State of Hockey’s Wild haven’t sniffed the playoffs in quite awhile.
Along comes Minnesota’s Wonder Woman of Hoops; , Lindsey Whalen, Read more…

The Twins Cities Film Fest will be taking place the week of September 28 through October 2, 2010, and according to Ruth, my blog buddy from Flixchatter there are some neat viewing opportunities for Sportsdaddy’s in the Metro area,
“As you’re a sports nut, this one might be for you: Streetball. It’s about the Homeless World Cup, an annual soccer tournament that draws teams from over 56 countries—comprised of homeless and the excluded. “Streetball” is a story of hope and of the resilience that dwells within the human spirit.”
Scrolling through some of the other titles, another sports-related film with a pop culture link also caught my eye , ”Two Escobars.” If you are a fan of HBO’s series Entourage, you know that the character, Vincent Chase, once played the role of Pablo Escobar, and you also know that several NBA and NFL players have appeared on that award winning series, including Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings. I know it’s s stretch, but the point is movies and sports interwine.
Maybe next year, I will remix the ever popular “e-NORM-us Softballs” my first attempt at a documentary about about the bar league team that turned into World Champions. Regardless, this years TC Film Fest offers an eclectic mix of studio fares, independent films, as well as documentaries and shorts from international and local filmmakers.
There are also a few studio films offered at the 5-day event:

I have always wanted to be a Timberwolves fan, but have avoided taking the plunge to full time commitment.
That might soon change?
It’s hard to be a Minnesota fan in the pursuit of quenching the champagne party in June. Aside from drafting Kevin Garnett (A top 50 NBA All-timer) the Wolves have done NOTHING to show it is capable of building a team from scratch. We all know how that ended up.
But after this year’s draft and Free Agent acquisitions, I have to admit that I am liking the future of the squad more and more everyday. There are only 2 players left from the Kevin McHale “disaster” roster 2 years ago (Corey Brewer & Kevin Love). New GM David Kahn has purged, gutted and traded away a team that was going nowhere without a map. Fans can now be optimistic about a young roster that is top heavy with former lottery picks.
Starting with Michael Beasley, the Wolves have a beast ready to unleash the fury. Corey Brewer and Kevin Love are primed to be 6th Man of the Year award winners. (I know that sounds crazy, as one will start, but we really don’t know which one that will be?). Johnny Flynn is a budding All-Star, but now gets a chance to hoop under the tutelage of Luke Ridnour until Ricky Rubbio shows up in 2012.
This reminds me of the 1982 Twins. They were a team was loaded with youth, waiting for talent to emerge. Five years after that their rock bottom 60-102 record, the Class of ’82 hoisted the World Series Trophy. I see a similar possibility with the Wolves.

I was checking Yahoo out this morning, when I saw a headline that boasted of Kiss Cam, Dustin Hoffman and Jason Bateman at the NBA Finals.
Curiously, I clicked.
Hmmm. I did like Dustin’s work in Ishtar, and I always thought Bateman was at his best in the TV series “Arrested Development” All I have to say, is “Hollyweird” and their actors… This isn’t your daddy’s typical Celtics Lakers NBA Finals!
Go Celtics!
