Happy Gillmore Sequel? That would be pretty cool 0

Happy Gillmore 2 starring Adam Sandler

A Happy Gillmore sequel would be boss, and I would love to see it!

When I was dating my wife back in 1996, one of my favorite movies of the time was Happy Gillmore starring Adam Sandler. I have been big fan of his  since his MTV “Remote Control” Days! Yes, I am one of those guys. I think he his hilarious,  and secretly wish I was part of his Hollywood entourage.

Back in ’96 Happy Gillmore took the golf world and comedy big screenby storm. My wife-to-be actually hated it, a good sign by the way. I have a theory about compatibility that I’ll explain in this blog later. The premise being that you never want your future wife to actually like the same sophomoric humor that your buddies share.

I remember asking her, ”How could you NOT possibly like Happy Gillmore?”  Read more…

I am now a producer for a movie. It’s a documentary about what it means to be a Vikings fan, so when my buddy (2V) sent me a link to this opportunity yesterday, I just had to do it.

I forwarded his Facebook message to The Sports Mom late last night. This morning while we were waiting for church to begin, she checked it out on her Blackberry, held it up to me, and whispered, Read more…

Last year at Super Bowl time I was a guest blogger for the movie review site Flixchatter. This year, instead of ranking my all time favorite football and other sports movies, I give you a YouTube montage.

You gotta love pep speeches from the movies. I stumbled onto this video and immediately saw visions of it playing at NFL stadiums all over the league next year. It’s funny, inspirational and just in time for your Super Bowl XLV party. Play it and have some fun! Read more…

Sportsdaddy’s, Vikings, Wolves and Independent Films in Minneapolis 2010 0

The Twins Cities Film Fest will be taking place the week of September 28 through October 2, 2010, and according to Ruth, my blog buddy from Flixchatter there are some neat viewing opportunities for Sportsdaddy’s in the Metro area,

“As you’re a sports nut, this one might be for you: Streetball. It’s about the Homeless World Cup, an annual soccer tournament that draws teams from over 56 countries—comprised of homeless and the excluded. “Streetball” is a story of hope and of the resilience that dwells within the human spirit.”

Scrolling through some of the other titles, another sports-related film with a pop culture link also caught my eye , ”Two Escobars.”  If you are a fan of HBO’s series Entourage, you know that the character, Vincent Chase, once  played the role of Pablo Escobar, and you also know that several NBA and NFL players have appeared on that award winning series, including Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings.  I know it’s s stretch, but the point is movies and sports interwine.

Maybe next year, I will remix the ever popular “e-NORM-us Softballs” my first attempt at a documentary about about the bar league team that turned into World Champions. Regardless, this years TC Film Fest offers an eclectic mix of studio fares, independent films, as well as documentaries and shorts from international and local filmmakers.

There are also a few studio films offered at the 5-day event:
