On this day in MN sports history, the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory in 1969 ruined the Minnesota Vikings first NFL Championship.
I don’t remember watching this game, as I was just 4 years old, but I have seen the NFL Films version several times and get upset every time. The Vikings were favored by 2 touchdowns before the game and for good reason. Read more…

A few years ago, I was contacted by a fellow Minnesota Vikings fan who thought he had discovered a team relic as precious as the Kensington Runestones.
The gentleman’s name was Ed from North Branch, Minnesota. He contacted me via email on the old Vikingstailgate.com website to let me know about a really cool story he uncovered after he acquired a purple Ford-150 from a junkyard.
At the time I was contacted in October of 2007, Ed and his wife had just purchased the truck, and were looking for clues as that would help determine it’s value.
“This is a cool story,” he wrote, ” Read more…

I don’t think I am capable of being one of the millions of overprotective parents in the United States.
Of course the sports mom might disagree, knowing that the last thing I would do is put my kid in harms way of any kind. I was thinking about all the times when I would tell my kid to NOT put his fingers in the blender when it was plugged in or to never stand to close to a bonfire because he could accidentally trip and fall in with the logs.

My old buddy from Macalester College recently challenged me to take a Civics literacy exam to see how I would do. The exam was put together by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute which according to their website
“Is a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt educational organization whose purpose is to further in successive generations of college students a better understanding of the values and institutions that sustain a free and humane society.”
At one point in my college career, I wanted to teach Civics in high school so I just had to take the civics literacy exam and see how tough it was.
About Full Civic Literacy Exam

NHL Hockey Draft 2011, Brent Burns Traded, Hockey Mite Sad
I attended the NHL hockey draft this weekend and learned that a mite hockey player can get pretty upset when his favorite player is traded to a rival team.
Watching a professional sports draft in person has always been a curiousity for me. When my brother called a few months ago offering up passes for this years NHL hockey draft, I jumped on the opportunity. After witnessing two days of the NHL prospects holding up #11 jerseys, I can now offically cross this off my “live event bucket list.” Read more…
