MN Sports History: Vikings victim of Dolphin Super Bowls 0

On this day in MN sports history January 13, 1974, the Vikings became a victim of Miani Dolphin Super Bowls. The game was the second in Super Bowl history for the Vikings. It was played at Rice Stadium in Houston, TX.

The Sports Daddy remembers this game clearly because I really thought the Vikes were going to win. Even-though the Dolphins were defending World Champions, and were playing in their third straight Super Bowl, I honestly felt like the Vikings would dominate them. I was 9-years old and I was wrong!.

On this day in MN Sports history the Vikings played in their 2nd straight Super Bowl, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 16-6, at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans on January 12, 1975. It was the first Steeler Super Bowl.

This Day in Minnesota Sports History: Raider Super Bowl is O-4 Vikings 1

An Oakland Raider Super Bowl win meant an 0-4 record for Minnesota in big games.

The Vikings played in their 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years against the Oakland Raiders at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, on January 9, 1977. The Vikings however, couldn’t break its bad luck in the Super Bowl. Minnesota lost, 32-14.

Another year, another tear for the MN Vikings as the Raiders became the 3rd team to win their first NFL championship against the Purple. Read more…

It was 35 Years ago for me, and I still remember that first game like it was yesterday. It was December 18th, 1976 when the Vikings beat the Washington Redskins 35-20 in that Divisional Playoff Game at the Old Met Stadium.

Random Rant from Vikings Past: 34-0 Loss to Cheese Stinks Like Chili 0

In November 2007 after the Vikings were blasted 34-0 at Lambeau, I jotted down some angry, vicious thoughts about the state of the purple during a boring meeting at work.
