Basketball in Minnesota used to be World Champion caliber. Before the minn timberwolves came to existence in 1989, the Minneapolis Lakers claimed 5 championships. They moved to Los Angeles and became Showtime in the 80′s. The Timberwolves have only advanced as far as the Western Conference Finals once in their history. They are Minnesota’s sports step-child, but fans still love them.
