Chuck Foreman: Probably the most underrated player in Vikings history 0

Chuck Foreman Minnesota Vikings“Do it Chucky Baby!”

Those words were bellowed by my father in our rural home in South Dakota back in 1976, as # 44, the 2nd All-time leading rusher in Vikes history, motored down the sideline for a 60-yard run in the closing moments of the 1976 NFC Championship.

Chuck Foreman had the slickest spin move of all-time, Read more…

Is this 1999 for the Vikings all over again? (Stuff Sent to my inbox) 0

I meant to post this earlier, but this item sent to my email last week, proposes that the fate of  this year’s Vikings might end up much like that of the ’99 team. Going into last week’s game with the Patriots, the similarities to ’10 and ’99 were quite astonishing, as my friend wrote: Read on…

Randy Moss: Time to come home to the Humpty Hump in the Minneapple 1

Posted on September 07, 2010 by Marcus "Mookie" Anderson

The day the Vikings traded Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders was a dark day. It was March 2, 2005 and it was not fun. I will never forgive Red McCombs for dumping “Superfreak” just before he sold the team to Zygi Wilfe.

Five and one-half years later, the Vikings are again Super Bowl contenders in what appears to be an ALL-IN or bust season. They have a Hall of Fame quarterback playing his last season in the NFL (we’ll see about that) and loads of talent equal to if not before than the sum of players who Moss first joined as a rookie back in 1998.

In my opinion, it’s time to make a trade and BRING BACK RANDY! Here’s why:

According to the Boston Globe, September 7, 2010 Moss in no longer happy being a Patriot because they haven’t made him a contract offer.

“When you have done so much and put so much work in, it kind of feels like I am not wanted,” Moss said. “I am taking that in stride and playing my final year out and whatever the future holds is what it holds, but it is kind of a bad feeling — feeling not wanted. It is not like my production has gone down.”

The Vikings cut Javon Walker, and have only 4 wide receivers on their roster; Bernard Berrien, Percy Harvin, Greg Camarillo, and Greg Lewis. To make this trade happen, the Vikings might have to give one of them up (Berrien).

Moss is 33, and has always told Vikings fans that he wants to end his career where it started. Getting the Superfreak back for this 2010 run would send a lightning bolt of offensive joy into the fan base and make for an incredibly electric season.

Favre to Moss, Favre to Percy, AP busting loose, Longwell’s xtra point is good. Camrillo over the middle, CAUGHT! That’s another Vikings FIRST DOWN! Look at that truck bounce off the defense! Gerhart for 15 yards of real hard knocks! Visanthe into the end zone… TOUCHDOWN VIKINGS!!!!

I can just hear the Vikings horn in the Metrodome blasting away. Oh, and let’s not forget… Jared Allen tying mythical calves after he sacks opposing quarterbacks, the Williams Wall shutting down every running back they encounter, and the return of a healthy Antoine & EJ along with the South Dakota Hee Haw linebackers.

Man, I would not want to miss a game if Moss came back. Somewhere out there Lombardi would be rolling over in his grave as #4 and #84 hoisted the trophy in the land of “Staubach & Drew Pushed Off” in February.

This is an “ALL IN” season for the Vikings now 0

Yahoo Sports Jason Cole, reported that the Vikings are involved in another Brett Favre schism. You might remember last year? Favre shows up, players take T-Jack’s defense, a supposed riff happens in the Vikings lockerroom? The same type of hyperbole is happening all over again.

According to this Yahoo Sports Report Favre and Brad Childress are the combatants. The report quoted unamed players as saying,

“Brett thinks Childress has no clue about offense!”

One only has to watch last year’s games with the Panthers and Bears to see that they disagree on offense. I am not a football guru, head coach or Hall of Fame QB, but I do know about body language. It was clear that the coach and player did have a disagreement on offensive philosophy. But I also know that in any relationship (say, between a husband and wife) there will be disagreements, and arguments. This doesn’t mean that one should lose all hope, quite, give up or retire.  It also doesen’t mean that all is lost for the Vikings.

If Childress and Favre can agree to disagree on philosophy of NFL playcalling, they still can work together on the business of winning.  Afterall, for both parties, it’s all about winning. Childress wins if Favre plays, and Favre wins because he comes here for his last season to help his loyal teammates win.

I at least give them both credit for realizing that they stand to benefit personally from the team’s success (if that does happen.),

It doesn’t matter if you believe that Childress is  an average coach with a good track record for assembling talent.  Some of the worst coaches in history have rings on their fingers because talent was put on the table for them (George Seifert, Barry Switzer).  Childress might be smart enough to back off the offense, and let Favre run it… that would be credible to his desire to win.

People have to realize that this might be the ONLY chance the Vikings will have to go to the Super Bow for the next decade. It’s an ALL IN season! All the chips are on the table. With a lock out looming, and no Vikings stadium planned or being built, there is an off chance that this season might be the last season ever for the Vikings in Minnesota.

The NFL as we currently know it, may no longer exist after this season. Big changes to the rules, schedules, settlements, infrastructure,  contracts and unions may all be in place after a lock out.

So Vikings fans,  enjoy the heck out of this season. Take everything in this year like it is the last time you will see it, because that just might be the case.
