SKOL The Documentary premiered on Thursday, May 19 at the Height’s Theater in Columbia Heights, MN. There wasn’t any limos or red carpets, just plenty of purple clad fans wearing face paint and horns.
I supported the film from the minute I learned that Elizabeth Giorgi was documenting a story about Vikings fans. The disappointing 50th season in the NFL with all the hardships are covered, including the firing of Brad Childress, the return and release of Randy Moss, and the collapse of the Metrodome. Its hard to imagine how anybody could be a happy fan after the crushing season that ended with the rival Green Bay Packers winning the Super Bowl.

I am now a producer for a movie. It’s a documentary about what it means to be a Vikings fan, so when my buddy (2V) sent me a link to this opportunity yesterday, I just had to do it.
I forwarded his Facebook message to The Sports Mom late last night. This morning while we were waiting for church to begin, she checked it out on her Blackberry, held it up to me, and whispered, Read more…

Last night, I was not able to watch the Twins beat the Yankees on my local cable TV provider. I am up in arms, frustrated, miffed, and oh, did I say upset?
For some reason Charter Communication, Cable TV, a hijacker of entertainment in a disgusting version of the game monopoly, is not allowing their viewers access to 45 Minnesota Twins games this season.
I am perturbed that these games, formerly carried by local TV station WFTC, are available to other cable and dish viewers in our area. For some reason, the Charter “suits” feel that sports networks are too expensive for their bottom line, and will not pay the asking price. Read more…

Originally published in the Mac Weekly (Macalester College), March, 1987 this is Part 2 of a series of articles that were written to chronicle a trip of three college buddies to Orlando, FL for Twins Sping Training games.
March 23, 1987: The next morning we drove to Vero Beach, alias Dodgertown. Los Angeles players were walking around and socializing with the fans before their exhibition game that afternoon. It was like a softball tournament!
Someone once told me that Dodgertown was the Disneyland of training camps. They were right. What a setup. It is a baseball country club. Read more…

I am not the big “rah-rah” Vikings season ticket enthusiast as I once was. Call me weathered, tainted, and war torn. From last year’s devastating NFC title loss to a Super Bowl victory by the archrival, border battle nemesis from Green Bay, the spirit of Vikings fans have quelled.
After watching a YouTube video on the local news last night, Read more…
