“Fans, don’t fail to miss tomorrow’s game.” -Dizzy Dean
Don’t worry Dizzy, we won’t take your quote too serious. The Twins were rained out on Friday, and I felt a bit ripped off, not being able to see Francisco Liriano pitch under the lights on TV. It is one of my guilty pleasures; baseball on TV. But even better, I got to out to Outback Steakhouse with the wife and kids, and get home early enough o watch the best show on TV, “Friday Night Lights”.
I just think that TV show is aces. If you haven’t watched, you have to start.
Speaking of start, which game will Liriano pitch tomorrow? Will it be the day game at noon, or the night game make-up?
This means that Saturday, for the first time at Target Field, Twins fans can’t fail to miss either game.
In 2006, Francisco Liriano was AMAZING! I remember going to the game in Milwaukee on May 19th, and watching Brewers batters babbling to themselves as they walked back to dugout after striking out.
Oh by the way, I was with my best friend “Saueey” for the entire weekend of games that years, and we had great seats, 5 rows up from the Brewers on deck circle. I remember going back to the hotel later that night, and watching Sports Center. Sure enough, for the Twins game highlights, they showed ME sitting and chatting with a Brewers fan. I was wearing my throwback Puckett jersey, and he was wearing 1982 Robin Yount. As the clip showed us chatting, the Sports Center anchor commented, “In Milwaukee for the Brewers Twins, a couple fans chatting before the game, I don’t know what they could possibly be talking about…” It was funny.
Anyway, Liriano ended up getting hurt in 2007, and this game from Spring Training in 2008 was the first time I had since him pitch live. The results were no where close to where he was before the injury, but 2 years later, as Spring Training looms again, I am hoping to see the REAL LIRI!!!
