In November 2007 after the Vikings were blasted 34-0 at Lambeau, I jotted down some angry, vicious thoughts about the state of the purple during a boring meeting at work. I didn’t have any intention of attending the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament this year. The circumstances changed when a misbehaving mite scored on a Varsity high school goalie weeks before tourney “madness” in March.
In February, the Lakeville North hockey team invited all the young players from their association to their annual “Skate with the Panthers” event.
The Sports Mom and our son attended the event. It was a chance for the kids to meet the players, receive autographed team yearbooks, eat cupcakes and skate through various hockey drills.
According to my son, the best part of the event came when all the skaters were allowed to to participate in a break-away, shoot out contest, one-on-one against the varsity goalies. Read more…

Ya gotta love videos like this. RESPECT. This must be inherent in all hockey players. For some reason, one of their traits has always been “hockey hair.” From the classic Mullet to the old school long hair on the Hansen Brothers, the sport just wouldn’t look right without it’s unique styles.
