I love that writers can find each other and share their blogs. It is one of my favorite things about blogging, and connecting on line. In the story at Johngy’s Beat, you will also read how The Sports Daddy met Gordon Lightfoot There is even a back stage picture of me with he singer of the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
I don’t often share celebrity encounters, but they are fun stories and make for good blog posts. I will try and recollect more details from these talesin the future, but for now go visit Johngy’s Beat and see all the interesting people that he meets on line. I really like his site. It’s chock full of autograph stories, scenes from Professional Wrestling, and lots of cool ballcards. I really dig his collection of celebrity cards who make appearances at ball parks. Surf away and enjoy.

I don’t how I missed this! Earlier this season, after the Twins clinched, a new song featuring the Hold Steady’s Craig Finn, along with a group called the Baseball Project released a song for the Minnesota Twins. The Baseball Project’s new Twins song, “Don’t Call them Twinkies” is available on iTunes.I just bought it, and it’s pretty cool. It capture’s the spirit of being a Twins junkie fan.
Everything from 1965 to Kirby Puckett, and Ron Gant clearly being out when Kent Hrbek tagged him in the 1991 World Series is covered, so download it and enjoy. As Linda Pitmon, the drummer for The Baseball Project, notes, the song features Finn’s specialty of “name-checking no less than eight Minnesota cities, two neighborhoods, two streets, nine Twins players and two (managers) in just over four minutes.” Check out some sample lyrics below: Read on…

This song was featured in one of my all-time favorite movies, the Rookie, which was the story of Jim Morris.
Morris was a highly-touted baseball prospect, who was hampered by a shoulder injury and was unable to fulfill his dreams of playing in the majors. Read on…

So who is, was, will be Chelsea Rodgers? One of the more intriguing speculation claimed that Prince, in this song & video below, was really singing about himself, stating that if “you just listen to the words of his music (read the lyrics below) you might actual get to know him.” Regardless the music is great, and the video is quintessential Prince:
I don’t really know, who Chelsea Rodgers is, nor do I care all that much, but back when this song came out in 2007, the rumors were rampant. Read on…
