Schools Out & Mitch Kramer, The Sports Daddy is Dazed and Confused 0

Mitch Kramer Dazed and ConfusedOne of my favorite movie characters is Mitch Kramer from “Dazed and Confused.” It just reminds me of being that underclassman in High School where coaches were empowered, and the kids were their pawns. Most important it captured an era of growing up in the 70′s and the 80′s. Those good old days where kids declared their independence by partying responsibly at beer keggers.

As a little brother with two older High School sisters, I saw several similarities to my life in the role of Mitch Kramer. As a matter of fact, I can remember a few instances where these Dazed and Confused quotes may have been actually spoken in the scenes of my life.

Scene 1: Outdoor Kegger at someone’s remote farm. By the way this movie features a great sound track for music at keggers. The younger brother inadvertently crosses paths with his older sister:

Jodi: Is that a beer in your hand?
Mitch: Why, yes it is.
Jodi: Have you had more than one of those?
Mitch: Few. No one’s counting.
Jodi: When were you supposed to be home?
Mitch: Few hours ago I think.
Jodi: Thats bullshit. That’s major bullshit. You know I was barely let out at your age?
Mitch: Aww.
Jodi: Aww. Well don’t think she won’t be waiting up for you. And she is tough. I’ve been through it.
Mitch: Just don’t ask her to take it easy on me.

Scene 2: Back at home, after getting dropped off after the party. The son (Mitch Kramer, the younger brother) is confronted by his mother as he tries to sneak into his room:

Mrs. Kramer, Mitch’s Mother: Have you been drinking?
Mitch: No
[falls on bed and can't even take off both boots]
Mrs. Kramer, Mitch’s Mother: Are you drunk?
Mitch: [clearly drunk] Psshh

So to commemorate the the “Schools Out” opening days of summer from my young adult life, I now share with you the movie trailer from this movie with a kick ass soundtrack:
