New Twins Pitchers added, Middle Infielders Subtracted 0

On Thusday the Twins trades J.J. Hardy and Brendan Harris to the Orioles for minor league pitchers Brett Jacobsen and Jim Hoey. On that same day, the Target Field dwellers selected left-handed pitcher Scott Diamond from the Atlanta Braves in the Major League portion of the Rule 5 draft.

Clearly, the team is after “cheap pitching” to fill the anticipated void that will be left by the departures of Matt Guerrier, Jesse Crain and “others” from last year’s bullpen. To coin a phrase from Twins 2000-2001 marketing campaign, it’s to “GET TO KNOW EM.” Read on…

Is Vincent Jackson Heading to the Mall of America Field? 0

Hot rumor from CBSsports.com, indicates that the Vikings may have been working with the Chargers to acquire their disgruntled, and troubled very talented wide receiver Vincent Jackson. If this happens, it won’t surprise me in this all in our bust season for the Vikings.

Randy Moss: Time to come home to the Humpty Hump in the Minneapple 1

Posted on September 07, 2010 by Marcus "Mookie" Anderson

The day the Vikings traded Randy Moss to the Oakland Raiders was a dark day. It was March 2, 2005 and it was not fun. I will never forgive Red McCombs for dumping “Superfreak” just before he sold the team to Zygi Wilfe.

Five and one-half years later, the Vikings are again Super Bowl contenders in what appears to be an ALL-IN or bust season. They have a Hall of Fame quarterback playing his last season in the NFL (we’ll see about that) and loads of talent equal to if not before than the sum of players who Moss first joined as a rookie back in 1998.

In my opinion, it’s time to make a trade and BRING BACK RANDY! Here’s why:

According to the Boston Globe, September 7, 2010 Moss in no longer happy being a Patriot because they haven’t made him a contract offer.

“When you have done so much and put so much work in, it kind of feels like I am not wanted,” Moss said. “I am taking that in stride and playing my final year out and whatever the future holds is what it holds, but it is kind of a bad feeling — feeling not wanted. It is not like my production has gone down.”

The Vikings cut Javon Walker, and have only 4 wide receivers on their roster; Bernard Berrien, Percy Harvin, Greg Camarillo, and Greg Lewis. To make this trade happen, the Vikings might have to give one of them up (Berrien).

Moss is 33, and has always told Vikings fans that he wants to end his career where it started. Getting the Superfreak back for this 2010 run would send a lightning bolt of offensive joy into the fan base and make for an incredibly electric season.

Favre to Moss, Favre to Percy, AP busting loose, Longwell’s xtra point is good. Camrillo over the middle, CAUGHT! That’s another Vikings FIRST DOWN! Look at that truck bounce off the defense! Gerhart for 15 yards of real hard knocks! Visanthe into the end zone… TOUCHDOWN VIKINGS!!!!

I can just hear the Vikings horn in the Metrodome blasting away. Oh, and let’s not forget… Jared Allen tying mythical calves after he sacks opposing quarterbacks, the Williams Wall shutting down every running back they encounter, and the return of a healthy Antoine & EJ along with the South Dakota Hee Haw linebackers.

Man, I would not want to miss a game if Moss came back. Somewhere out there Lombardi would be rolling over in his grave as #4 and #84 hoisted the trophy in the land of “Staubach & Drew Pushed Off” in February.

Fake or Real: Sage Rosenfels & Darius Reynauld Traded to Giants? 0

“The greatest thing about the Internet is that you can quote something and totally make up the source.”
- Thomas Jefferson

I absolutely love this quote, and it is inspiring to me. Look for more “real quotes” and fake quotes soon. It kind of reminds me of stories on the internet. You know, just because you see it on the web, does the story that someone posts mean it’s true?

Just less than an hour ago, someone posted a story that Sage Rosenfels had been traded to the Giants along with Darius Reynauld for conditional picks in 2011 & 2012.

Is this true? Is the quote real?

And it looks like it’s true, but I can’t believe the Vikings actually did this. T-Jack over Sage makes no sense. Worse, they traded Darious Reynauld in the same deal. I thought he was the Vikings only real option for a kick returner?

I can’t believe the Vikings are actually going into battle this season with a 40-year Old QB who’s back-up is a consistently unproductive 2nd Round bust. I can’t understand why they are “banking” on Percy Harvin to be 100% for every game as a receiver and kick returner with his history of migraines?

They traded some “now” players for conditional prospects in future draft picks. How does this help? I ask myself, how did Thomas Jefferson know about the internet? The answers can only come in a time machine- which is something else I don’t think is real.

I am puzzled. Go Vikes.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune confirmed the Twins have scouted Padres closer Heath Bell as a possible replacement for Joe Nathan, who could be facing season-ending Tommy John surgery.

The newspaper noted the team likely has compiled a list of possible trade targets to fill its closer void, but it first will focus on in-house candidates. Those include Jon Rauch, Matt Guerrier and Jose Mijares.

Nathan was expected to test his elbow with a throwing session this weekend.
