In November 2007 after the Vikings were blasted 34-0 at Lambeau, I jotted down some angry, vicious thoughts about the state of the purple during a boring meeting at work. A few years ago, I was contacted by a fellow Minnesota Vikings fan who thought he had discovered a team relic as precious as the Kensington Runestones.
The gentleman’s name was Ed from North Branch, Minnesota. He contacted me via email on the old Vikingstailgate.com website to let me know about a really cool story he uncovered after he acquired a purple Ford-150 from a junkyard.
At the time I was contacted in October of 2007, Ed and his wife had just purchased the truck, and were looking for clues as that would help determine it’s value.

SKOL The Documentary premiered on Thursday, May 19 at the Height’s Theater in Columbia Heights, MN. There wasn’t any limos or red carpets, just plenty of purple clad fans wearing face paint and horns.
I supported the film from the minute I learned that Elizabeth Giorgi was documenting a story about Vikings fans. The disappointing 50th season in the NFL with all the hardships are covered, including the firing of Brad Childress, the return and release of Randy Moss, and the collapse of the Metrodome. Its hard to imagine how anybody could be a happy fan after the crushing season that ended with the rival Green Bay Packers winning the Super Bowl.
